The Day After

You'd  have to of lived locked in a bunker without access to media to not know that there are many people (including some of our readers and friends) are not happy with yesterday's election outcome.  As Americans if nothing else we can agree that the process worked as it was designed and I am choosing to be hopeful that our Representatives in Congress and the Senate can create a way for Democracy to work and I am with new vigor committing myself to action if they fail to do so, Democrats and Republicans,  progressives and conservatives and my fellow Libertarians (the real ones, not the ones who play them on TV ☺).

We (citizens) can't sit on our backsides.  We must hold our elected officials accountable for their actions or lack there of (including the President).  As Americans we proudly proclaim this political process to be the best in the world; most favored, most free, the most successful.  Let's work it like we believe it.

On a personal note: I know generally I make it a point not to talk too much of politics on the blog. Politics are very personal to each of us (as they should be).  I have experienced both in the public arena and amongst my own friends and family how disagreements on issues can strain relationships.  I am torn in that where I can see a issue being important enough to redefine a relationship and even end it sometimes, I don't know that most issues would carry that as it's price.  I have deep love for people who have very different political views than I hold.  I reach out to you to say I reject the logic of how you derived your political beliefs, but certainly not you.  There is always room to discuss why we disagree and when we cannot reach a consensus we place that opinion aside because in the end you are more important to me; I hope I am to you.  With that in mind, Question 6 passed in Maryland and a coworker just invited me to his wedding next year.  Though I am very happy the provision passed I was saddened that this action required a law that constitutionally should not have made creating more law necessary.  After 10 years of building a life together, making decisions about finances, jobs, their house, their children they finally get to exercise the legal protections under the rule of law in their lives, congrads guys.
